What they got was “los pechos del pollo tierno” which is Spanish for “the cute chicken’s boobs”. How about this sign? Exito Aqui means "Success Here", probably not what Starbucks had in mind.

Other mistranslations may not have such humorous results though. There have been reports of pharmacies using automated translators to translate labels and prescriptions into Spanish, which can lead to potentially dangerous situations. Either way, the need for an experienced human translator is clear.

Our team is divided in three locations: New York, Florida and Colombia. As well as being fully qualified our in-staff translators are also marketing specialists, but what sets them apart is the fact that they are truly bicultural, living and breathing both Latin and American cultures. Each member has had personal immersion in both cultures, having lived and worked abroad. These experiences have provided them with a sharp insight and sensitivity to cultural idiosyncrasies.
